We’re incredibly excited to announce that João Ricardo Martins will be joining us at Otomi Martial Arts this June!
João is a dedicated and passionate martial artist whose journey began on the tatami at just 5 years old. Starting with judo and soon after discovering his true calling in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, João has spent nearly two decades immersed in the art. Now 22, he brings not only a deep love for Jiu-Jitsu but also valuable teaching experience, having shared his knowledge in Brazil, the United States, and Greece over the last four years.
While here, João will be training and competing alongside our team as we prepare for a busy season ahead — including the IBJJF American Nationals, the IBJJF Phoenix Open in July, and the prestigious Master’s World Championship in late August. He’ll also get to celebrate a special moment in Salt Lake City as he attends the wedding of one of his primary instructors on September 22.
João’s passion for the sport goes far beyond competition. For him, Jiu-Jitsu is a path of growth, expression, and connection — and we are thrilled to have his energy and experience on our mats.
