Growing Together, One Class at a Time | Weekly BJJ Curriculum
One of the things I love most about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is watching our students grow. Sometimes that growth happens quietly, one class and one repetition at a time. Other times, we get to celebrate it in a much bigger way, like we did this past Saturday during our belt promotion ceremony at Otomi Martial Arts.
We want to extend a huge congratulations to everyone who earned their next rank on Saturday, October 31, 2026! In particular, we’re incredibly proud of Mykhailo Musiienko, who earned his Purple Belt, Sammy Rusten, who advanced to Grey/Black Belt, and Sydney Jackson, who earned her Yellow/White Belt! Each of these students has put in the time, effort, and dedication necessary to reach their next milestone. Their accomplishments remind us that progress isn’t about luck or natural talent. It’s about showing up, putting in the repetitions, and continuing to work even when things aren’t easy.
Speaking of growth, we’re also excited to announce an important change to our youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schedule! Our 3–6-year-old students will now join our 7–12-year-old students at 4:45 PM instead of attending the previous 4:15 PM class. Even better, our youngest students will now have the opportunity to train on Mondays and Fridays as well! This expanded schedule gives families more flexibility and our younger students more opportunities to learn, practice, and develop their skills alongside their teammates.
There is something special about bringing different age groups together on the mats. Our younger students get to learn from the example set by their older teammates, while our older students have opportunities to practice patience, leadership, and helping others. Those are lessons that go far beyond learning a sweep, escape, or submission.
At Otomi Martial Arts in Parker, Colorado, we’re proud to teach the Caio Terra Association Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum, helping students as young as three years old develop confidence, discipline, resilience, and practical martial arts skills. Whether a student is attending their very first class or celebrating their next belt promotion, our goal remains the same: help them become a little better every time they step onto the mats.
Congratulations again to all of our newly promoted students! We’re proud of your accomplishments and excited to see what comes next.
