This past weekend in Las Vegas, Otomi Martial Arts/Caio Terra Association BJJ was proud to be represented on the national stage as João Martins stepped onto the mats at the IBJJF American Nationals Tournament—and what a performance he delivered!
Although João faced a challenging bracket in the lightweight Gi division, he showed tremendous heart and skill, battling through a tough match against an opponent who would go on to win the division. Undeterred, João came back with renewed focus and grit in the NoGi division, where his perseverance paid off. He fought his way to an impressive third-place finish, earning a well-deserved spot on the podium!
We couldn’t be more proud of João’s efforts. His ability to bounce back, adjust, and push forward is a reflection of the mindset we strive to instill in all of our athletes—resilience, determination, and growth through adversity.
As João continues to help prepare our team (and himself!) for the IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Con this August, we are excited to see the momentum carry forward. With every match, he brings valuable experience, sharp technique, and inspiring energy to the mats.
