It is easy to have fun doing something that you’re already good at. If you’ve already put in the time to excel at a given skill, we tend to forget how we had to struggle when we started. Jiu-Jitsu will be a rollercoaster of ups and downs where one day you will feel you’ve made incredible progress and the next day you might feel as though you’ve forgotten even basic concepts you once understood. This natural process of highs and lows are essential to learning and growing over time.
Jiu-Jitsu is hard because it requires a new understanding of how your body moves and what it is capable of. This can be discouraging if you are focused on reaching a certain level of proficiency since you will constantly need to study, train, and evolve. If you focus on learning proper movement and making progress alongside your friends, you will have fun throughout your journey!
