On May 9th, we had the incredible privilege of hosting a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar with our dear friend and Caio Terra Association teammate, Gabriel Marangoni, visiting us all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah. Gabriel brought with him not only his deep technical knowledge but also his contagious energy and passion for the art—qualities that continue to make him a favorite whenever he visits.
This seminar focused on one of the more dynamic and evolving positions in modern Jiu Jitsu: the lapel guard. Gabriel broke down creative entries and transitions from both the traditional closed guard and from standing positions. His ability to clearly explain the intricacies of lapel control while keeping the room engaged made for a truly memorable experience. Everyone on the mat, from white belts to black belts, walked away with new tools and a deeper appreciation for this innovative part of the game.
Most importantly, the night was just plain fun. Smiles, laughs, and moments of inspiration filled the academy as students drilled, asked questions, and explored the techniques together.
We want to sincerely thank Gabriel for sharing his time, knowledge, and love for the sport with our team. His passion for teaching and the art of Jiu Jitsu is evident in every detail he shares, and we’re already looking forward to his next visit.
