We are thrilled to share the news of another successful BJJ competition outing by one of our very own rising stars, Barrett Hayes. As the saying goes, ‘It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey,’ and Barrett’s journey is a testament to the perseverance, skill, and spirit of a true martial artist.
Competing in the Boys Advanced division, Barrett showcased his ever-improving skills. He commenced with a bang, winning his first match by submission. While the next two matches saw him lose by points, it’s important to highlight that this was Barrett’s very first win in the advanced division – an accomplishment in itself! Every match, win or lose, adds a wealth of experience and teaches valuable lessons that help martial artists grow.
Shifting gears to the Boys Intermediate division, Barrett’s unwavering determination shone through once again. He clinched his first match with a submission. Though the ref stopped his second match, Barrett did not let that dampen his spirits. Displaying resilience and technique, he made a strong comeback, winning his subsequent 4 matches by submission! This impressive performance secured him the bronze medal, adding another feather to his cap.
Such dedication and hard work deserve not only recognition but also celebration. We are immensely proud of Barrett for representing Otomi Martial Arts with such passion and determination.
